The cylinder block is the main engine structure that contains the cylinder bores and supports the crankshaft assembly. Depending on the product configuration, cylinder liners, main bearing caps, plugs and other basic components may be pre-installed.

A cylinder block supplied without the crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons may also be described as a bare engine block. When the internal rotating components are already assembled, the product should be identified as a short block rather than assumed to be a bare cylinder block.

Before ordering, confirm the OE number, engine code, cylinder bore, liner configuration, bearing-cap arrangement, mounting points and exact list of included components.
